Pha Rung Shipyard delivered 6,500 DWT- oil - chemical tanker to Korean ship owner

On the morning of 31st May, 2018 in Hai Phong, Pha Rung Shipbuilding Co.Ltd (a subsidiary of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation - SBIC) handed over to BS Tankers and Yentec (Korea) a 6500 oil - chemical tanker BS-01 named "YN YEOSU".

 

Mr. Vu Huu Chien, General Director of Pha Rung Shipbuilding Company, said that YN YEOSU is the first of the three oil - chemical tankers of the same kind that the company signed a contract to build for BS Tankers and Yentec (Korea) in 2016.

The "YN YEOSU" oil - chemical tanker has a capacity of 6,500 tons, length of 109.45m, width of 18.20m, draft of 6.8m, a cargo oil tank capacity of 7,700m3, a speed of 13 nautical/hour, Japanese main engine LH46L-2942KW, crews on board are 18. The ship is designed by Asia Ship Design & Consultants Co., Ltd and classified by Korea Register. This is a chemical tanker that requires high technical, quality and stability.

Pha Rung Shipyard is accelerating the construction of the remaining two tankers, BS02 and BS03, in order to deliver them to the owner ahead of schedule, said Mr Chien.

According to Acting General Director of Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) Mr. Cao Thanh Dong, this event marks the return to the export shipbuilding market during the SBIC restructuring period; this also affirms the capability of SBIC and especially Pha Rung to build ships with sophisticated technical requirements.
