The 9th International Exhibition on Shipbuilding, Shipping and offshore Technology opens in Hanoi

The 9th International Exhibition on Shipbuilding, Shipping and offshore Technology - Vietship 2018 opened at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on January 24.

Attending the ceremony there were Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Cong, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Leaders of government, Agencies, many local prestigious enterprises, foreign companies in shipbuilding and maritime industry.

Addressing the opening, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Cong said that Vietnam has many advantages to develop the sea-based economy thanks to a long coastline and its location on the world’s important maritime axis.
In particular, Vietnam considers shipbuilding an important part of the maritime economy and has created optimal conditions for local and foreign investors in this field. 

 

“This year’s Vietship 2018 is held in a market recovering from the impact of the global economic crisis. Despite difficulties ahead, there are still many opportunities for international groups to tap into the huge potential of the industry,” said Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Cong.

"I am particularly appreciative of the leadership of the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, the sponsors and the domestic and foreign enterprisese hold the exhibition is as large as this. I believe this will be an important premise for related industries to find and utilize investment opportunities, overcome difficulties with the formal contracts as well as the principle contracts signed at this exhibition", Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Cong emphasized.

Acting General Director of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) Cao Thanh Dong said Vietship is the largest and longest established exhibition in Vietnam featuring all aspects of shipbuilding, shipping and offshore technology. This exhibition is the best transaction platform for Vietnamese shipping companies to cooperate, exchange technologies as well as conduct trade promotion activities with well-known international shipping corporations and waterway equipment suppliers since it was first held in 2002.

 

Vietship offers businesses and investors access to the latest information in the field and the chance to share new cutting-edge technology and seek investment opportunities to develop the shipbuilding industry in Vietnam and the world at large, he added.

Nearly 100 firms from 13 countries will take part in Vietship 2018, from 24 to 26 January in Hanoi.

The exhibition this year introduces products in the fields of shipbuilding, ship repair and maintenance technology, materials and equipment for shipbuilding, equipment and facility for shipyard, offshore engineering and facilities, waterway transportation and services, marine supply logistics, ports technology and equipment, design, insurance and more.

Vietship's key activities include a buyer forum, which will offer exhibitors as well as visitors exclusive one-on-one meetings to have better understanding of each other's capabilities and seek for future business, a conference themed "Shipping and Shipbuilding Market in Vietnam - Challenges and Opportunities," and a contract signing ceremony.
